Levi’s GranFondo: Excitement Builds in Sonoma County

With just over three weeks until Levi’s GranFondo, the energy in Sonoma County is palpable. In fact, we keep tripping over it! Just yesterday, this energy got its tail stepped on a few times and even slammed in a door. But don’t worry—it’s indestructible. Here are some important updates as we head into this sunny Tuesday afternoon, with Spring showing us all 85º of its California glory.

Minor Course Differences

The early sections of the Piccolino, Piccolo, Medio, and Geysers routes will differ slightly from last year due to ongoing construction projects. Wohler Bridge is undergoing a seismic retrofit, and Westside Road remains closed near Hacienda Bridge. These repairs will require participants to head north earlier than last year, passing through the town of Healdsburg before returning to the familiar roads featured previously. All updated routes are available on the website—take a moment to review them and ensure you’re prepared.

A Brand-New Bridge on Geysers Road

Exciting news for participants of the Growler and Geysers routes: the historic Geysers Bridge replacement is nearly complete and will be ready for its grand opening on April 19th! This technical road, running through canyons below the world’s largest geothermal production site, features rough patches and gravel sections. While most areas are manageable, caution/danger signs will mark particularly challenging areas. Riders must pay close attention to avoid being caught off guard by sudden undulations that could make for a bumpy ride.

This Year’s Festival: Open to Everyone

This year’s festival is FREE to the public—whether you’re riding or not—and promises to be unforgettable! The two-day expo will feature more vendors than ever before, live music from Gas Money and Ears of Maize, and a unique broadcast of the race on a jumbotron. The live stream will begin as soon as the starting gun goes off, showcasing hours of race footage before transitioning to an Internet broadcast on YouTube. Attendees at Windsor Town Green can enjoy watching riders tackle King Ridge, Skaggs roads, coastal redwoods, and green ridge lines while participating in festival activities.

Tune In Live If You Can’t Attend in Person

For those unable to attend Levi’s GranFondo in person this year (boo hoo!), you can still catch all the action live starting at 11:00 AM Pacific Time on our website, YouTube, ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), and Facebook. Full details for the live race coverage will be available at levisgranfondo.com/live. This marks the first live broadcast of a long-distance professional road race in the United States since 2019, when the Amgen Tour of California came to an end.

We’re thrilled to combine the excitement of professional road bike racing with the gran fondo mass-participation format. Don’t miss this incredible showcase of Sonoma County—arguably the most beautiful place on the planet to ride a road bike.

See You April 18th and 19th!

Whether you join us in person or virtually, Levi’s GranFondo promises to be an unforgettable experience. Mark your calendars for April 18th and 19th—we can’t wait to see you there!
